This caused tons of issues that poor Iris had to fix for me as my computer just couldnt manage! Once fixed, I took the model into substance to texture, which was left feeling bland and plain, with still some visable artifacts on the baking. Though between these steps, I at some point decided to resize the original low poly model in maya, which offset the baking process in substance. This I felt confident with, and continued to make clean UV’s, and then take into Zbrush to texture. This unfortunately just didnt feel right, so I remade the mesh (The left of the two, in picture 2). Firstly, made a low poly base mesh in maya, which I decided to make as a single piece without any subtools or seperate parts. This asset caused me an untold amount of problems, all stemming from rookie mistakes. Mostly the standard, with only 1 brush being downloaded as an extra. The entire modelling process was a combination of Zpheres for the base, masking extracting and re-topologizing and of course sculpting with a variety of brushes. As a bonus I also took the model into Substance and slapped a coat of paint on it for fun! Process pictures above show my full process including my reference images, modelling in zbrush, decimation and finally renders in zbrush. Teaching myself Zbrush during the year has been incredibly fun but also daunting task, but i think im finally getting the hang of it.
